Future Science Opportunities in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean (2011)

Report coverA report from the Academies’ Polar Research Board looks out over the next couple of decades to identify key questions that will drive scientific research in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean and presents opportunities to be leveraged to sustain and improve the science program. The study concludes that the development of a large-scale observing network and a new generation of models has the potential to expand scientific understanding and ensure the continuing success of research in the Antarctic region.
